The kingdom started to like him as well. My character was making big changes to the kingdom with advances in technology by making factories to produce weapons and advances in entertainment by teaching entertainers glamor and divination magic to keep the kingdom's people calm while at the brink of war.So, with that said, here's the turning point where it all goes south, my character receives a letter from his mom threatening him to come back home or she'll "throw away" "some of your things she found in the attic". Like yo, wtf. Why would my character give a flying ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥about some blank threat about some baby toys. I already made the decision in the past for my character that pretty much dismissed the parents because they coudln't accept the fact that he could use magic. So I had no ties with the parents. I also made the decision in the past to tell the church that Tal and Cos are shapeshifters, meaning that they're dead and my character casted a divination spell to confirm that. So again, I had no ties there either.Futhermore, the village gathered around my character's home at night during a point yelling "heretic", so my character actually had a great reason TO NOT go back to that village.So the first paragraph of the event of receiving that JOKE of a letter had me laughing so hard irl thinking that my character was laughing too. I thought that my character would completely dismiss the letter OR AT THE VERY LEAST give me the old school decisions AS A PLAYER to make. No. Instead this happens, this random letter shows up out of the blue:"You receive a letter from your mother asking you to return to Akriton to sort through some of your things she found in the attic. She threatens to throw them away if you don't come soon.Wondering what it is about your mother that compels her to threaten to throw out your things all the time, you agree to come with all haste."Just wth!!!! It blows my mind. I forced myself after that point to push through the game knowing that if I'd close it that I'd never reopen it. So I finished the game about 30 minutes later and had a tasteless unsatisfying ending which didn't help my relationship with the game. I could go way more into detail as why this game takes a PHAT dump on player choices such as having and naming your very own pet dragon that never did ANYTHING?!! EVER?!? But I'll cut it here.Remember, I LOVED this game until it showed those signs of betrayal.It just felt like the devs dumped a fat one right there and then.So buy and play this game at your own risk of having crap like that happen to you.. Something was missing from this one. Namely, there seemed to be too many dead ends and abrupt changes in direction. I found myself asking "Really?" several times when it seemed giant swings in the story happened instantly and without my ability to avert them in any reasonable way. You might think this isn't a big deal, but when you're hours into a story and a severe shift in the story occurs and 'ruins' the direction it feels like you just wasted your time. Which is quite infuriating. My story ended by being (slight spoilers ahead) turned into a tortoise. Making my entire story culminate in a three-hour long joke. It was completely unforeseeable and irreversible and was the final whiplash curve that felt indicative of the entire experience. Weird pacing too, with long patches of the story seeming to stall out as the writer seemed to be waiting for you to choose the option he wanted you to choose. And then, BAM, giant swing. I just have a really bad taste in my mouth after this one. I felt like I wasted my time.. Didn't expect to like this, but booy this is an amazing game to play. The story, the stats, items, all it's getting along awesome. I love this game so far and I recomend it.. Truly one of my favorites ever! Love, magic, action and character development, Oh and of course choices. Its all I can ask for, maybe zombies too but thats just wishful thinking.. I absolutely LOVE this game and this author. I wholeheartedly recommend it to readers and interactive story adventures alike, along side all of this man's excellent work. Praise be Mr. Kevin Gold, please for the sake of this avid reader's adventerous heart keep writing such wonderful works.
